I love my job. In fact, I'm very good at my job. To be invited into people’s worlds and watch them heal from the past, live in the present, and find hope and potential for the future are the reasons why I work. There is no such thing as black or white, wrong or right, to be or not to be, normal or abnormal, ugly or pretty. In an office that I call “ours,” is where my clients get to be themselves, away from their secrets and Facebook facades. What occurs in the interaction between my clients and I are meant to be imperfect, authentic, and unrehearsed. With a scribbled notepad in hand and a honest mind and heart, we collaborate together to find solutions, resolutions and acceptance.
I grew up in Los Angeles, attended the University of California in Irvine majoring in Criminology and received my Masters of Science in Counseling at California State University in Fullerton. Throughout the course of my studies, years of making rounds and paying dues in the therapy world, building my practice and from mentoring aspiring therapists, I found out that life lessons aren’t learned listening to lectures or reading recommended self-help books, as it is living through liberating and painful experiences. I grew up traveling to all four corners of the world, backpacked, lived and studied in Italy, and trekked the Himalayas- all with purpose of experiencing someone else’s reality. Through my adventures, I have learned to become an expert in the universal language of feelings and bridging the gaps in relationships with others and the self. And as I continue to work and maintain a sustainable and successful life balance, I know that even when life is good, something can always be better.
In session, I won't sugarcoat. I'll empathize if you stay honest. I'll tell you discrepancies and challenge you to set boundaries. I don't take sides. I may or may not be your secret-keeper. I'm not the judge of what's normal. I won't preach what I don't practice myself. I have customized and prioritize my life to be competent and present with you. We will laugh, cry, disagree and be silent at times, but I'll always be loyal and accountable to our work. You're the expert of your life, I'm just here to assist.
We all have felt lasting heartbreak, grief and hopelessness. We all have felt fleeting moments of joy, happiness and contentment. What is your purpose? Mine may be different than yours, but the emotions and drive behind it are no different. My goal is to help clients find their purpose and adapt ways to function well and honestly. We all want to feel some sense of consistent peace within ourselves and others. Such a feeling exists and is undoubtedly, attainable. Get ready and let’s make life better.
